RAYMOND C. AMELIO, AMEN CORNER PRESIDENT 2010
We are halfway through 2010 and I am pleased to report that the state of The Amen Corner is excellent. We began the year with the Judicial Reception, which was held at the Carlton Restaurant on April 19th. The Awardees included Kate Ford Elliott, President Judge of the Superior Court and Joseph James, immediate Past President Judge of the Court of Common Pleas of Allegheny who both received the Robert E. Dauer Award for outstanding leadership and judicial excellence. A Professional Achievement Award was presented to Wendell Freeland, Esquire for his dedication and service to the legal profession. A Special Recognition Award was presented to Ray Billotte, the Court Administrator of the Court of Common Pleas for his commitment and service to the court. It was a wonderful evening and Amen Corner was proud to make these awards to these fine individuals who serve our community so professionally and faithfully. Congratulations to each recipient. Thanks to Mary Sue Ramsden, Esquire and Charles Evans, Esquire for chairing this great evening.
We are in the process of planning to have an old fashioned Amen Corner Picnic sometime in early September. Details will follow as Tom McCaffrey and his committee work on this grand tradition of Amen Corner.
On Friday, October 22, in the Ballroom of The Sheraton Hotel at Station Square, the 10th Annual Senator John Heinz Law Enforcement Awards Luncheon will be held. Larry Dunn and his committee are making plans to make this a very special day for those who will be honored and all those who will be attending. More information will be forthcoming as we move closer to the date.
It is our hope to increase our membership this year and we hope that all current members will renew their membership and also recommend Amen Corner to their family members, friends and other acquaintances.
I am proud to serve as the 140th president of this prestigious group and pleased that our year is off to such a great start.
